Our feet get the most use out of any other part of our body. We use them to support our weight, and they take the force of every activity doled out to them. Day-in and day-out, they offer us reliable and painless performance. That is, until a painful foot issue occurs. This can include heelspurs, corns, calluses and the like. Feet need to be spoiled more than any part of the body. Many years of pain-free feet can be the result of taking good care of them. Here are 3 ways that feet can be spoiled this summer, even in the warm weather.

A Pedicure Makes You Feel Like Royalty

Pedicures are simply the best way to indulge the feet. This is a wonderful way to remove excess dead skin from the feet and toes as well as to restore moisture to the feet. Rehydration is an advantage from a pedicure because feet are bathed in water and then lotion is applied for maximum moisture retention. If the spa offers the choice of a warm foot bath with oil, that is an even better way to hydrate. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, pedicure instruments that have been sterilized should always be used by the salon to avoid the spread of skin fungus from one person to another. Pedicures not only enhance the appearance of the feet, but they give them with better circulation through massage. Since the entire lower leg and foot is usually massaged during a pedicure, the foot is relieved of tensions and oxygen-rich blood can be distributed around the feet to relieve muscle stress! Even heelspurs and flat feet don’t bother feet as much after being spoiled like this!

The Mechanics of Flat Shoes

Summertime is here and bare feet are worn more often at this time of the year. Foot conditions such as flat feet and heelspurs can become painful for people who use flat footwear or go bare-footed. According to podiatrists, not having any firmness in the arch can cause this area of the foot to become elongated and painful. Though both of these foot conditions can be treated with special orthotic insoles, flip-flops simply cannot provide proper arch support…until now. Special flip-flops for warm weather have been developed and some of them are quite fashionable. Look for sandals like these because they come with orthotics for rigid arch support. You don’t have to bring a change of shoes because these sandals will give you hours of comfort. Indulge feet with sandals like these instead of wearing common, flat flip-flops.

How Simple Daily Changes Can Make Feet Sing

The third way to indulge your feet during summer is to increase water consumption, stay active, and keep them lifted up for twenty minutes each and every day. Summertime can cause swelling in the feet and ankles which can worsen problems such as heel spurs and flat feet. This can cause daily aching and pain in the feet for many people. One suggested excercise that really helps relieve overheating as well as increase circulation is completing laps in the pool. If excercise, excellent fluid intake, and 20 minutes of keeping the foot elevated are consistent throughout the summer, feet will hurt less and swelling will be kept to a minimum.

This summer, try a pedicure, supportive sandals, and lifting the feet. You’ll immediately hydrate dry skin, decrease swelling, and relieve pain. Don’t miss out on giving your feet the relaxing pampering they deserve!
